The 1st alarm assignment was dispatched at 2:43 am this morning to the 700 W. block of Montgomery Ave. for a dwelling fire. Squad Co. 3 (A Platoon) arrived quickly and located a fire on the second floor deck that extended into the wall. All occupants were safely evacuated from the building by arriving City of Wildwood Police Department officers and Squad Co. 3. The fire was quickly knocked down and contained to the area of origin, minimizing damage. A total of 11 occupants from the building were displaced as a result of the fire. Firefighters had to deal with single digit wind chills and icy conditions due to the weather at the time of the fire. The Cape May County Fire Marshal and WFD Fire Investigation Unit are investigating the cause of the fire. Thank you to our automatic aid partners for their response including North Wildwood Fire Department, Rio Grande Fire Company Station 72, Wildwood Crest Fire Department, Stone Harbor Volunteer Fire Company #1 & Stone Harbor Firefighters FMBA 151, Villas Fire Company, Middle Township Ambulance Corps, and Wildwood Crest Ems See MoreSee Less
